Our Mission & Vision

At Campus Traders, we don't only trade stocks. We trade knowledge, skills and opportunities. Founded with the clear mission to explore the vast field of finance, we have two core mottos:

"Finance for everyone"

We believe that finance is for everyone.  Regardless of major, talent and career aspirations, financial knowledge brings you one step further in life. We strive to be the most diverse and welcoming student initiative in Munich.

"Finance put into action"

To fully learn and scale, we swear by applicationWe don‘t just focus on theoretical learning but constantly work on real-life cases and practical projects. We value ownership, creativity and a get-it-done mindset.

Our History & Milestones

April 2024

Three management students at TUM come together to create a beginner-friendly finance community — aiming to move beyond the traditional career-focused student club model.

Campus Traders becomes a registered non-profit organization.
With new energy, the club launches external collaborations, guest speaker events, and company workshops, turning ideas into real entrepreneurial projects.

Alongside workshops, members start independently developing and leading practical projects — expanding the club’s mission beyond education into real-world action.

April 2025

Campus Traders rebrands into a project-based student club.
The second semester begins with a new vision: a community where every student can find something meaningful to build, lead, and leave an impact.

Who we are

Connecting TUM and LMU, Campus Traders is a growing community united by one shared goal: learning more about finance.

We prioritize diversity and help our members focus on their strengths, interests, and ambitions. To accommodate different backgrounds and talents, we offer three main tracks within our community.

These tracks are flexible, not strictly separated, and help shape the rich talent pool our members can tap into.

What We Do

Projects

At Campus Traders, projects are the heart of everything we do.
Members collaborate, lead, and build. From the first idea to the final product.
Whether it's coding a trading bot, running a finance newsletter, launching your own department or creating a portfolio challenge, anything finance-related is welcome. As long as it helps you learn and grow.

Explore our past and ongoing projects — and get inspired to start your own.

Collaborations

We believe real-world impact comes from real-world connections.

Through partnerships with companies, startups, and other student initiatives, we create opportunities for workshops, guest talks, and joint projects.

We strive to connect our career-driven members with the industry and offer as many collaborative hands-on learning experiences as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need finance knowledge or technical skills to join?

No prior experience is required.
Campus Traders welcomes students from all backgrounds — from complete beginners to finance enthusiasts. If you're curious, motivated, and ready to learn, you're in the right place.

Do my projects need to be complex or technical?

Not at all.
Projects can be simple, creative, research-based, or technical — it depends on your interest.
We care more about ownership and initiative than complexity.

How do I know which track (Finance Pros, Quant-Tech, Beginner-Generalists) fits me?

You don't have to choose perfectly at the start.
You'll naturally find your direction based on your interests and the projects you work on.
We’ll guide you through the options during onboarding.

Are the tracks fixed once I join?

No, tracks are flexible.
You can explore different areas, switch tracks, or mix them based on how your interests evolve.

How much time do I need to commit each week?

We expect a minimum commitment of around 2–4 hours per week, depending on your role and project involvement.
Some leadership or project management roles might require a bit more, but we always prioritize flexibility around academic schedules.

Can I apply if the application phase is already closed?

Applications are only open during specific periods each semester. However, there can be exceptions if you are willing to join individual projects rather than the whole club.

What happens after I apply?

Once applications close, selected candidates will be invited to the Kickoff Event, where you’ll meet the team, hear about current projects, and officially become part of the community.

Can I switch projects or roles during the semester?

Yes, if space allows.
Campus Traders encourages exploration. If you find another area you’re passionate about, we’ll support your transition wherever possible.

Is Campus Traders only about finance?

Finance is our foundation, but not our only focus.
We connect it with tech, artificial intelligence, personal life, psychology, economics, entrepreneurship, and real-world skills like project management and business development.

How much does it cost to join Campus Traders?

Nothing.
Joining Campus Traders is completely free — we’re a non-profit student initiative driven by passion, not profit.
